Did Jesus say anything about hell and the need to be saved?

Well, if this is a yes or no question, it seems kind of silly. Is the Bible the source? If it is, then the answer is YES. Its not really up for debate, whether he did or did not.
For starters, John the Baptist was the "forebearer" and "prepared the way", for Jesus (Matt. 3.3, John 1.23, Luke 1.76) and his message was "repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand." That this repentance is "saving" is seen in the very context in Matt 3. 7 and 10.
Jesus himself adopts John's message in the next chapter, Matt. 4. 17.
If Jesus isn't talking about Hell in the sermon on the mount when he says things like "thrown into hell" (Matt 5. 29) then I don't know what he's talking about.
Matt. 10. 28 is pretty straightforward.
I'm going to stop here. It is clear that Jesus spoke about it in the gospels an awful lot. And since the references to hell are always connected to actions that would prevent one from going to hell, then I guess you could safely call it being "saved."
I'm not quite sure where you are going with this. I am not saying my opinion of these passages, just answering your question. So please don't assume my point of view.
Matt 8. 12.
